In this project the combined results of tunneling spectroscopy and of photoelectron spectroscopy performed on size selected large clusters in tunneling contact with a surface as well as of photoelectron spectroscopy on the same clusters in the gas phase will be used to clarify the electronic structure of the cluster/surface system and the nature of charge transfer processes between the cluster and the surface. Furthermore this direct comparison of the three different techniques is expected to improve the understanding of the results of tunneling spectroscopy on metal particles.
