In this subproject, the charging and charge-trapping behavior of novel cellular fluoropolymer electret films will be investigated and optimized with respect to high piezoelectric response and good thermal and temporal stability. To this end, suitable charging and conditioning processes for the cellular fluoropolymers provided by the University of Erlangen will be developed and refined. Among the process parameters to be studied are the charging field, temperature, time, gas environment and pressure. Furthermore, the underlying chargestorage phenomena will be investigated an non-cellular and cellular fluoropolymer electrets by means of surface and bulk charge measurements, thermally and optically induced discharge experiments, comparison of different non-cellular and cellular polymers and Samples as well as model calculations.
