Subproject S04 continues and expands the work on identifying changes in the economic sphere – in subsistence economy, secondary economy, food distribution and consumption. It also examines economic organisation in a diachronic perspective, as well as comparing different socio-cultural formations. The goal is the reconstruction of a broad range of economic practices to identify changes in subsistence technologies, and the production, distribution and consumption of food and other items, as well as further considering possible non-economic triggers for economic developments that contribute to socio-environmental transformations.
