The project uses large datasets, transcription factors, and promoter analyses to decode the input syntax of photo-synthetic gene expression. Transcription factors controlling photosynthesis are identified using machine learning based gene regulatory networks, validated using in vivo overexpression, and characterised with regard to relative binding specificity and interaction. Promoters are studied using binding data, comparative analyses in pangenomes and genomes of closely related species. The combined information is leveraged for synthetic promoter construc-tion and in vivo testing of hypotheses.
