This project aims at driving redox reactions under irradiation in hybrid systems comprised of metalnanoparticles (“antenna”) and immobilized metal complexes (“reactor”). Reduction of the metalcomplex and oxidation of an organic molecule shall happen simultaneously by plasmonicallygenerated hot electron–hole pairs. Tuning parameters for all involved components will help to identifyan antenna-reactor system which oxidizes selectively at mild conditions. This approach valorizes thehole scavenging “sacrificial” agents as starting materials for actually useful organic chemicals.
