The aim of sub-project C02 is to define and develop a production-aware product-design methodology for graded lightweight structures. Based on mathematical optimisation, numerical design approaches for both the product and the manufacturing process will be developed and combined in a holistic approach. The project addresses aspects of model order reduction and surrogate modelling to enable efficient evaluation of the underlying models, application-specific optimisation methods alongside machine learning of design strategies and advanced high-fidelity modelling of the injection-moulding production processes.
