Project Details
High-Resolution Mass Spectrometer with Liquid Chromatography System
Subject Area
Analytical Chemistry
Term
Funded in 2025
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 555921011
With this application the acquisition of a high-resolution (HR) mass spectrometer (MS) coupled to a UHPLC system for pharmaceutical research, biopharmaceutical characterization, and bioanalysis including metabolomics and lipidomics is proposed. The MS instrument requirements are high mass resolving power, high mass accuracy, fast acquisition speed, capability of molecular fragmentation under controlled conditions (by collisional induced dissociation and electron-activated dissociation), high sensitivity (sensitive detection), and a wide linear dynamic range. As front-end devices, syringe pump for direct infusion and ultra-high performance liquid chromatography system including autosampler are mandatory. The instrument also includes software for data acquisition and data processing of untargeted analysis data and for quantitative analysis. The instrument will be used for qualitative and quantitative, targeted and untargeted analysis in research on pharmaceutical analysis and impurity profiling, biopharmaceutical characterization and impurity analysis, metabolomics, lipidomics and other bioanalytical applications, stereoselective metabolomics and peptidomics, drug discovery and covalent (kinase) inhibitor research. Preferred fields of application will be research on cancer metabolomics and lipidomics, platelet lipidomics, immunometabolomics and steroidomics (correlation of steroid metabolism with brain functional imaging).
