Project Details
From idiosyncrasy to understanding: how the flow of energy, matter, and information shapes wetscapes 2.0 and their development pathways (S03)
Subject Area
Ecology and Biodiversity of Plants and Ecosystems
Term
since 2025
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 531801029
We will bring together data from several sub-projects and the conceptual understanding from S1 and S2 and relate them to the landscape scale to analyze how matter, energy and information are exchanged in space and time within and beyond rewetted peatlands. We aim (1) to explain the causes and consequences of patches and patterns in rewetted peatlands, (2) to describe their temporal development (both the past and intra-annual changes), and (3) to address the innovative research question of what determines the regeneration trajectory of rewetted peatlands.
