The manuscripts written in 9th century Mainz are now scattered in various libraries and archives across Europe. This project aims in particular to digitally bring together the numerous manuscripts and fragments in order to reunite them in one, albeit virtual, location to fully capture the Carolingian manuscripts written in Mainz. The project thereby illustrates the history of the Mainz scriptoria and their writing in a diachronic and diatopic setting, while simultaneously examining their cultural history.
