The BSB's collection of manuscripts from the Benedictine monastery of Tegernsee is probably the largest and most important collection with a common monastic provenance in Germany. The project focuses on the extremely rich transmission of manuscripts from one of the most prosperous eras of the monastery, namely that of the Benedictine Reform of the fifteenth century. These manuscripts cannot be catalogued in an in depth-project in the foreseeable future, especially since this collection of manuscripts has not been as thoroughly researched as manuscripts from earlier centuries. In an initial project from 2020 to 2022, 339 manuscripts of the monastery of Tegernsee from the 15th century were successfully digitized and catalogued in form of an inventory list. In this second project, an addition of 351 manuscripts will be catalogued using also the inventory list method, accompanied by the digitization of the manuscripts from the original. When the project is completed, all 15th century manuscripts from the Tegernsee monastery will have been catalogued and digitized. Cataloguing in the form of an inventory list according to DFG standards enriches the information from existing older inventories with new codicological findings from an autopsy of each volume and current research results. The descriptions will be published together with the digitized material in the German manuscripts portal.
