A01 builds, studies, and manipulates collective molecular states emerging due to the coupling in lattices of organic molecules on a 2D material. The project grows monolayers of dyes on 2D materials and realizes lattices of various symmetries, packing density, and coupling strength. The coupling between the molecular transition moments results in emergent collective excitations such as collective molecular excitons, superradiant states, and molecule-2D material polaritons. The coupling strength will be controlled by the choice of 2D material and by engineered dyes and molecular switches.
