Precision covalent chemistry for tailored mol2Dmat heterostructures (C02)

C02 explores the interface chemistry of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMD) and fabricates functional hybrids with dyes and charge-transfer molecules. A chemistry toolbox for precise control over grafting these molecules onto TMDs will be developed. Novel covalent TMD hybrids with controllable spatial parameters (surface coverage, location, interface distances, and orientations) of functional groups will be fabricated, including Janus-type monolayer and bilayer TMDs, to modulate the optical and electronic properties.
