Project A3 engages experimental off-line methods like rating studies as well as corpus studies to explore the use of different types of information, particularly non-factual information and their consequences for a model of common ground. Through four work packages, we will scrutinize how speakers negotiate information type for entry into the common ground, and how it affects their subsequent beliefs about information in the common ground. Furthermore, we will investigate how information type interacts with discourse and information structuring strategies. Ultimately, our goal is to devise a formal linguistic model for different attitudes and types of propositional information in the common ground.
