Gamma-delta T cells develop in the foetal thymus and prepare the body to encounter microbiota and pathogens before, during and after birth. We will apply our experimental mouse systems, novel tools for monitoring human gamma-delta T cells and interdisciplinary collaborations with members of this consortium to test the hypothesis that maternal immune activation (MIA) disrupts the prenatal development of gamma-delta T cells and affects gamma-delta T cell composition and function postnatally.
