Correlated electronic states, such as Wigner crystals or Chern insulators, only exist at cryogenic temperatures. To study such fragile states, a dilution refrigerator with a base temperature below 10 mK and a capacity to apply a magnetic field of up to 14 T is applied for in this proposal. This device is essential for our planned experiments. This system will facilitate the study of a particularly fragile quantum phases in bilayer graphene as function of magnetic field. Additionally, the search for fractional Chern phases in graphene multilayers with rhombohedral stacking order is planned. Furthermore, the cryostat system will undergo further development to enable THz photocurrent and spectroscopy measurements on van der Waals materials.
