Project Details
The interplay of cognitive prerequisites and knowledge in simulated learning environments (A06)
Subject Area
General and Domain-Specific Teaching and Learning
Term
since 2025
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 542251251
A06 investigates the interplay between learners’ general cognitive prerequisites and domain-specific content knowledge during diagnosing mathematical understanding and solving MicroDYN tasks (as examples of knowledge-lean domains). In four studies, the project explores approaches to automatically infer participants’ knowledge from their diagnostic activities and develops personalized scaffolding strategies at the macro- and meso-level. Additionally, it aims to identify general problem-solving strategies employed in both knowledge rich and knowledge lean environments through the temporal and sequential analysis of diagnostic activities using machine learning techniques.
