Novel hybrid systems based on liquid crystals and perovskite nanocrystals for enhanced nonlinear optical properties (C07*)

Subject Area Solid State and Surface Chemistry, Material Synthesis
Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Physical Chemistry of Solids and Surfaces, Material Characterisation
Term since 2025
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 398816777

This project will develop and offer new material platforms and hybrid structures with interesting largely unexplored nonlinear optical properties. These novel hybrid structures will combine 0D perovskite nanoparticles and 2D liquid crystalline thin films with metamaterials, metasurfaces and plasmonic nanostructured materials from the NOA consortium. The central nonlinear phenomena that will be investigated are second harmonic generation (SHG) as well as higher-order harmonic generation (HHG). It is anticipated that the molecular and materials components of the here designed hybrid materials will activate strong synergies and significantly enhance SHG and HHG efficiencies.
