The spatio-temporal structural evolution of the Western Himalayan Orogen in Pakistan is poorly constrained compared to the Main Himalayan belt. This proposal aims at addressing this problem by establishing a research team comprising four doctoral students along with Dr. Ghani (PI) as a postdoctoral researcher and collaborators at the Universities of Göttingen and Potsdam. In our projects we combine structural modeling and low temperature thermochronologic methods to produce the first data set constraining the timing of deformation at a million-year timescale for the entire Western Himalayan Orogen in Pakistan. Together, these investigations will provide the first detailed dataset and analysis for the timing of structural development in the entire Western Himalayan Orogen in Pakistan.
