Project Details
Interrogating Radical Intermediates with Time-Resolved EPR (TR-EPR) (A06*)
Subject Area
Physical Chemistry of Molecules, Liquids and Interfaces, Biophysical Chemistry
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 444632635
TR-EPR, with its high temporal and spectral resolution, provides detailed insights into the dynamics, molecular and electronic structures, and interactions of short-lived open-shell species in chemical and biochemical processes. The planned implementation of two TR-EPR spectrometers will add a complementary, currently missing perspective to the CRC, enhancing established time-resolved spectroscopic techniques like TR-UV and TR-IR in projects B08 and A05. Computational chemistry is integral to these efforts, supporting mechanistic investigations and spectral interpretation through advanced calculations and fitting tools.
