Project Details
Bimetallic Photocatalyst Assemblies (A07*)
Subject Area
Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 444632635
Project A07 centers on the development of a new class of bimetallic photoredox catalysts, based on the N4-macrocyclic Mabiq ligand. The two metal sites can act in a synergistic fashion for enhanced photocatalysis. The project will explore application of the second metal for redox tuning, as a co-catalyst, and in a structural function to direct substrates. The bimetallic Mabiq complexes offer ideal systems to examine how the assembly of the different catalytic components – photosensitizer, organometallic (co)catalyst and substrate(s) – within a single scaffold can benefit catalytic processes.
