Project Details
Functional role of TNF- and TNFR-superfamily members in treatment-refractory inflammatory bowel diseases (TP12)
Subject Area
Gastroenterology
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 550296805
This project aims to better understand the causes of therapy resistance in chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and to develop new treatment approaches. We are focussing on two key proteins from the TNF receptor superfamily, CD27 and CD137, which we will investigate in samples from therapy-resistant patients and experimental models of chronic inflammatory bowel disease. By analysing their role in the activation of immune cells, the release of inflammatory cytokines and the survival of inflammatory cells, we aim to elucidate how these molecules promote the progression and chronicity of the disease.
