Project Details
Molecular and cellular mechanisms of T cell infiltration and activation in the lesion after ischemic stroke (B04)
Subject Area
Molecular and Cellular Neurology and Neuropathology
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 548585053
This project investigates how CD4+ T cell subsets infiltrate the brain after ischemic stroke and interact with resident immune cells in the lesion. It focuses on anatomical entry routes such as the meninges, choroid plexus, and parenchyma, and on the interaction with microglia, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Using intravital imaging and CRISPR-based gene editing, the project aims to identify molecular cues guiding T cell migration and activation that shape neuroinflammation and injury progression.
