Project Details
Phototheranostic materials for sustainable and multimodal implant protection (B09*)
Subject Area
Biomaterials
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 426335750
This subproject aims to develop effective antibacterial strategies specifically targeting the tissue-implant interface. The core approach involves an organosilica-based coating that enables localized production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) with high spatial precision to facilitate localized infection treatment. Integrated sensing functionalities will enable an autonomous, stimuli-responsive ROS release. The project involves extensive biological evaluation following a hierarchical testing strategy using progressively complex in vitro models to ensure robust validation. Ultimately, a selected set of functional organosilica coatings will be assessed in a pre-clinical in vivo model.
