Project Details
Predicting treatment outcomes for language impairments from variability in linguistic behavior and exploring the impact of language specific working memory (T02*)
Subject Area
General and Comparative Linguistics, Experimental Linguistics, Typology, Non-European Languages
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 317633480
The project transfers research on variability in language processing and working memory in aphasia into clinical practice. It examines whether higher pre-treatment variability predicts greater improvement after speech-language therapy. We explore links between variability and language-specific working memory abilities. Three work packages cover development of assessment tools, single-case treatment studies, and outcome analysis. The collaboration with clinical partners ensures practical relevance. The results will inform theory formation and provide validated materials for therapy.
