In this project we want to study convective transport mechanisms and their representation in large-scale models. Therefore, global model simulations with the ICON/MESSy system will be conducted with different convection schemes and associated transport, both in Eulerian and Lagrangian representation. The transport of air masses and tracers in convection will be inter-compared across model simulations and with aircraft data for convective events in various regions across the globe.
