Heat stress can disrupt cellular processes by impairing biomolecules and compromising membrane integrity, which can lead to reduced cell functionality. As a protective mechanism, cells temporarily sequester mRNA in stress granules (SGs). The ubiquitylation of SG proteins can modulate SG dynamics by promoting their disassembly. In this project, we focus on two deubiquitylases from Arabidopsis, OTU11 and OTU12, that are involved in cellular heat responses. Our aim is to elucidate the molecular functions of OTU11 and OTU12 in the regulation of heat-induced SGs.
