This project investigates silent vs. overt argument realization in Indo-Aryan languages, where it is unclear under what conditions arguments can be dropped (remain silent). When realized overtly, there are several different possible forms: as a noun, a pronoun, a doubled pronoun, an affix or a clitic. The project hypothesizes that information structure will be the main factor in determining whether an argument may be dropped and that an interaction with prosody and expressions of referentiality governs the overt form of the argument.
