Project identifier

The project uses a multimodal conversation analysis perspective to examine noise and silence in interaction, which can occur both between and within turns and have sequential consequences. D03 examines the topic empirically on the basis of interaction situations in immigration offices and refugee accommodation centers, where people with different competence and expectations meet. In addition to the linguistic reconstruction, the project investigates sociologically how the actors attribute these phenomena to the culture or personality of their interlocutor.
