Subject Area
General and Comparative Linguistics, Experimental Linguistics, Typology, Non-European Languages
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 281511265
This project investigates how pauses function as cues to prosodic prominence in German and French. The first work package analyses production data from large monologues and spontaneous dialogues to establish whether and how pauses occur with prosodic prominence. The second work package tests the relevance of pauses and their interaction with other prominence-related parameters in the perception and processing of prosodic prominence through perception experiments. The project aims to expand the CRC 1252’s understanding of prosodic prominence as a multidimensional phenomenon.
