Project Details
Role of inflammation for long-term post-stroke outcome (A03)
Subject Area
Molecular and Cellular Neurology and Neuropathology
Term
from 2008 to 2016
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 29837756
The project will test the premise that neuroinflammation on the cellular level is an essential component of the brain`s long-term response to ischemia. Building on the results of the previous funding period, A3 aims to investigate the relative contributions of resident microglia versus hematogenous macrophages to key aspects of stroke pathogenesis, including both regenerative processes such as angiogenesis and secondary neurodegeneration.
