GRK 1567:  Elektromagnetische Strömungsmessung und Wirbelstromprüfung mittels Lorentzkraft

Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse

Im Zentrum des Graduiertenkollegs GK 1567 standen zwei Verfahren zur berührungslosen Analyse elektrisch leitfähiger Substanzen . Dabei handelte es sich zum einen um die Lorentzkraft-Anemometrie zur Strömungsmessung in elektrisch leitfähigen Flüssigkeiten und zum anderen um die Lorentzkraft-Wirbelstromprüfung zur Defekterkennung in leitfähigen Festkörpern. Damit wurden zwei scheinbar voneinander weit entlegene Forschungsgebiete - die Strömungsmessung und die Wirbelstromprüfung - durch die Ausnutzung ein und desselben physikalischen Prinzips miteinander verknüpft. Die experimentellen, theoretischen und numerischen Untersuchungen dazu wurden in drei Projektbereiche unterteilt: Flüssigmetalle, Elektrolyte und Festkörper. In allen drei Bereichen konnte die Anwendbarkeit der Analyse mittels Lorentzkraft erfolgreich bestätigt und sowohl ihre vielfältigen Einsatzmöglichkeiten als auch ihre Grenzen ausgelotet und erweitert werden. Flüssigmetalle sind undurchsichtige, in der Praxis oftmals heiße und chemisch aggressive Fluide. Im Rahmen des Kollegs wurden die Messungen auf lokale Strömungsprofilanalysen in Scherströmungen verfeinert und auf Mehrphasenströmungen sowie thermisch getriebene Konvektion erweitert. Die Lorentzkraft-Anemometrie wurde dabei in Strömungen mit zeitlich stark veränderlichen Magnetfeldern an ihre Grenzen geführt. Der zweite Grenzfall einer sehr schwachen elektrischen Leitfähigkeit wurde in Elektrolyten untersucht. Durch die Verbesserung der Genauigkeit der Kraftmessung sowie die Optimierung der Magnetkonfiguration und -materialien konnte die elektrische Leitfähigkeit des zu untersuchenden Elektrolyts praktisch bis auf die von Leitungswasser gesenkt werden. Einfache Defekte in leitfähigen Festkörpern konnten in der Tiefe präzise mittels stationärer und mobiler Detektionsapparaturen lokalisiert werden. Die dazu notwendigen, inversen numerischen Methoden konnten im Laufe des Kollegs sukzessive verbessert werden. Unser Kolleg brachte Wissenschaftler aus der Strömungsmechanik, der Materialwissenschaft, der Präzisionsmesstechnik, der Mechanik, der Elektrotechnik, der biomedizinischen Technik und der Mathematik zusammen. Möglich wurde der wissenschaftliche Erfolg des Graduiertenkollegs durch die enge Zusammenarbeit der Kollegiaten, der assoziierten Doktoranden sowie der Postdoktoranden über ihre Fachdisziplinen hinaus, welcher durch ein kompaktes Ausbildungsprogramm und einen regen Austausch mit nationalen und internationalen Kooperationspartnern über die neunjährige Laufzeit unterstützt wurde. Das Forschungsformat des DFG Graduiertenkollegs erlaubte es uns, das hiesige Forschungsthema in seiner ganzen Breite von grundlegenden Fragen bis hin zur technischen Anwendung abzudecken.
