Within the first funding period a new method for increasing the dynamics of electromechanical feed drives has been examined and implemented. The central idea is the selective damping of feed drives by adapting the friction between machine table and machine bed. During the first funding period the functionality and potential of the developed method could be verified. The gained findings are of a high scientific value and therefore they should be extended in the second funding period. Here the focus is on the applicability of the developed method for an increase in feed drive dynamics. For this purpose first investigations in regard to effectiveness and dedicated parameterization of the controller are carried out, also considering application-relevant aspects. Further, strategies for the integration of the required functionalities in the control system will be developed and testing of the developed method on a real machine will be pushed forward. The objective of the project is the development of an adequate approach for the implementation of selective friction damping in real machines and plants.
