FOR 1546:  Computer-Supported Cooperative Tracks Planning in Multi-Scale 3D City and Building Models

Subject Area Construction Engineering and Architecture
Geosciences
Term from 2011 to 2019
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 173259152

The planning of infrastructure such as roads, rail and subway tracks in the urban environment and the associated over- and underpasses place enormous demands on the engineers involved, since a variety of legal, economic, environmental and structural constraints have to be considered. In the framework of the Research Unit methods and techniques for cooperative planning of infrastructure buildings in 3D city and building models have to be explored and developed.
The focus is on the design of buildings and tracks. The 3D modelling interacts with a spatio-temporal database, image data and geo-web services via a collaboration platform. The geo-web services are also the interface to local planners, who locate themselves as well as the 3D design model using a mobile, image-based "Augmented Reality" system.
For example, for the evaluation of track routes, external sources of heterogeneous spatial data and GIS analysis methods are used that are accessed via the Internet using geo-web services.
