Project Details
An Astrometric, Photometric, and Spectroscopic Census of Moving Groups and Open Clusters (B05)
Subject Area
Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term
from 2011 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 138713538
During the third funding period of the SFB 881 we will exploit the Gaia data releases and ground-based spectroscopic surveys to characterize stellar membership of known and newly discovered moving groups and open clusters. We will derive cluster parameters, such as ages and distances, and analyze their stellar content and chemical composition in order to revisit chemical gradients in the Milky Way disk. Our study will set the picture of moving group and open cluster formation, evolution, and dissolution as basic building blocks of the Galactic disk.
