Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse
Die Mission der Darmstädter Exzellenz-Graduiertenschule für Energiewissenschaft und -technik ist die multidisziplinäre Ausbildung der zukünftig benötigten leitenden Energieingenieur_innen und Energiewissenschaftler_innen, die mit ihrer interdisziplinären Expertise die dringendsten wissenschaftlichen, technologischen, ökonomischen aber auch sozialen Herausforderungen erkennen und lösen können. Unsere Energieversorgung ist im Wandel. Für eine nachhaltige Energiewirtschaft, d.h. für eine kontinuierliche Umstellung von fossilen Brennstoffen auf erneuerbare und umweltfreundliche Energiequellen werden sichere, verlässliche und kostengünstige Lösungen benötigt, die effizienzoptimierte und emissionsreduzierte konventionelle Energietechnologien mit stetig zunehmenden Anteilen verbesserter und innovativer regenerativer Technologien kombinieren. Die Graduiertenschule bündelt die vielfältige Expertise der Energieforschung in unterschiedlichen Fachbereichen zu einem fächerübergreifenden multidisziplinären Ausbildungs- und Forschungskonzept. Junge Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler arbeiten gemeinsam an Themen, die von grundlegenden Phänomenen über die Entwicklung einzelner Technologien bis hin zur Gestaltung technologischer Systeme und ihrer Einordnung in gesellschaftliche, ökonomische und ökologische Kontexte reichen. Das Qualifizierungskonzept basiert auf einem neuen, breit angelegten interdisziplinären Masterstudiengang mit starker Forschungsorientierung, gefolgt von einem interdisziplinär ausgerichteten Promotionsstudiengang. Eingangsvoraussetzung ist ein Bachelorabschluss der Natur- oder Ingenieurwissenschaften, ein Einstieg ist aber auch mit Masterabschluss möglich. Zentrales innovatives Element von Studium und Forschung sind multidisziplinäre Dissertations-Projektteams. Weitere Schlüsselelemente sind die frühe Einbindung in die Forschung, die zahlreichen Bildungsangebote für überfachliche Schlüsselqualifikationen und das umfassende Mentoren- und Betreuungskonzept. Vier fachübergreifende Energietechnologie-Integrationsplattformen bündeln die vielfältigen Forschungsthemen: (I) Herstellung und Verwendung von solaren Brennstoffen, (II) Gebäudeintegration und energieautarke Siedlungsbereiche, (III) Intelligente Energienetze und (IV) Flexible Energiewandler mit reduzierter CO2 Emission. Ein Austauschprogramm mit ausländischen Forschungsinstituten und der Industrie ist ein weiteres wichtiges Element. Der enge Austausch mit Forschung, Industrie, Politik und der Öffentlichkeit ist ein wesentlicher Teil der Graduiertenschule, um den komplexen technologischen, ökonomischen, rechtlichen und sozialen Herausforderungen einer nachhaltigen Energieökonomie der Zukunft zu begegnen.
