Project Details
Deciphering the survival code of memory plasma cells and memory B cells (16)
Subject Area
Immunology
Term
from 2013 to 2022
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 215346292
Long-lived plasma cells and memory B cells are essential components of protective and pathogenic humoral immunity. Project 16 has identified the signaling pathways essential for plasma cell survival in the bone marrow and revealed compartmentalization and heterogeneity among tissue-resident and circulating memory B cells. In the next funding period the molecular communication between stromal cells in the bone marrow and cells of the humoral memory as well as the functional role of the different memory B cell subsets in secondary immune responses will be defined in detail.
