The aim of the sub-project is to analyse the historically changing situation of European Roma from the perspective of different forms of securitisation. The empirically based analyses so far have shown that Roma have been constructed as a "security risk" at the national and EU level. The final phase turns to the perspective of this minority and explores the ways in which members of the Roma minority challenge heuristics of securitization and develop diplomatic tactics and narrative strategies that contribute to alternative representations.
