Zusammenfassung der Projektergebnisse

In this fellowship monocyte and macrophage biology was analyzed using intravital microscopy and transcriptomics. We characterized arterial monocyte patrolling, and assessed natural diversity of macrophage immune responses in heterogeneous populations. Our findings are significant aspects of many human pathologies, and their implications need to be further explored. The applicant was trained in new methods such as state-of-the-art flow cytometry, multi-photon intravital imaging, transcriptomics and bioinformatics, and could establish an international network of immunologists and nephrologists. These prerequisites will allow the applicant to apply for further independent research projects to tackle critical questions in the field of inflammatory kidney disease.
