Influence of the local microstructure on the workability of extruded composite materials (A01)

Subject Area Primary Shaping and Reshaping Technology, Additive Manufacturing
Term since 2015
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 252662854

The aim of the subproject is to robustify the co-extrusion process by integrating non-destructive testing methods. These enable inline process monitoring for the first time, which is used for the process-reliable production of hybrid hollow profiles made of aluminum and ductile functional materials such as copper. Non-destructive measurements are used, for example, to determine interface properties in order to manufacture material composites with high thermal conductivity of the compound zone. The phase seam model is transferred to another joining process and, in conjunction with the non-destructive testing methods, enables the prediction of the joining zone properties along the Tailored Forming process chain.
