Purpose of the proposal of the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz is DFG-funding for Universal Database of Social Sciences & Humanities (UDB-EDU) by East View Information Services as an Alliance License. For these journals the library has received an offer from the publisher. lt is a continuation of the existing DFG-funded Alliance-License. The database which focuses on Eastern European Studies contains 78 journals dealing with humanities and social sciences. A great number of journals concentrate on literature and linguistics, among them the so called "tolstye zurnaly" (¿thick" journals), academic and popular journals of the Russian Academy of Science. In addition to the 78 journals in the database the publisher includes two major English language journals: Far Eastern Affairs and Social Sciences. The offer is for a non-exclusive and non-transferable license with the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin to access and use the product. Eligible institutions to join the license agreement are institutions with public funding in Germany. For the term of the license the participating institutions have the right to grant their authorized users to access and use the product via secure authentication, particularly for academic and research purposes. Free access to the vendor's server for the duration of the licensing is included in the license fee. The archive that successively builds up during the term of the contract is to become available to all authorised institutions in Germany after one year (moving wall) by way of a national license, and can then be viewed within their own IP range in their local indexes and archives. lncluded in the license fee is free access to this archive on the vendor's servers for all authorised institutions. The purpose of the license includes the right to archive the contents on servers owned by the licensee or third parties authorised by the licensee for the purpose of ensuring permanent availability of the contents.
