The central goal of this project is the ab initio calculation of the space-time evolution of the quark-gluon matter at early stages of a heavy-ion collision and to devise suitable observables to disentangle different stages experimentally. An important aspect are calculations related to QCD dynamics and photon production at very low transverse momenta (below 1 GeV/c) accompanied by the development of novel photon analysis methods and phenomenological models. A further goal is the study of pre-equilibrium higher-order correlations including investigations into robust methods for measuring photon fluctuations at low transverse momenta. Moreover, fluctuations of conserved quantities like baryon number and strangeness will be studied theoretically and experimentally. This includes the development of analysis methods for measuring cumulants up to the 6th order.
