Spatiotemporal dynamics of low-copy number receptors (P09)

We will continue to study the localization and spatiotemporal dynamics of membrane-integrated and for the first time soluble intracellular receptors involved in acid stress response in gamma-proteobacteria with a specific focus on their DNA surface exploration during target search. Our wet-lab experiments will be complemented by simulations in collaboration with theoretical physicists. We will also analyse the dynamics of the three acid stress resistance systems at the single-cell level using multi-reporter E. coli strains and include time-resolved measurements of the changes in intracellular pH and membrane potential.
