Project A02 aims for an understanding of the neural representations of cues and contexts and their transformation that drive fear and extinction learning and renewal. In the second funding period, we will develop a novel conditioned intrusion paradigm that optimizes the ecological validity of fear learning research in humans. We aim for an understanding of representational changes at an unprecedented spatial resolution, using high-resolution fMRI recordings combined with sophisticated machine learning methods.
