Project Details
The contribution of the cerebellum to extinction: intrinsic mechanisms and cerebello-cerebral interactions (A05)
Subject Area
Human Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 316803389
In the project four studies will be conducted to investigate how the cerebellum contributes to extinction learning. Two 7T fMRI studies in healthy participants and one behavioral study in patients with cerebellar degeneration will examine whether the cerebellum is responsible for timing aspects of prediction error signaling underlying extinction learning. In the fourth study, EEG and non-invasive cerebellar stimulation (tACS) will be used to demonstrate that the influence of the cerebellum on prediction error processing is at least partially mediated through the thalamocortical system.
