In the research project, the prototype of commercial final examinations is used to describe competence development in VET and the influencing factors and relevant success factors. The test instrument has already been validated on trainees in the profession of industrial clerks (n = 877). In the next step, the question of the development of competence as well as empirically verifiable influencing factors will arise with the apprehensibility of professional competence. In this context, the project refers to the modeling of VET enculturation processes at both group and individual level, including the description of company learning conditions. The (a) validated competency assessment is used simultaneously with (b) an instrument for recording the enculturation conditions of vocational learning at the beginning, at the middle and at the end of initial vocational training (longitudinal design in the context of professional enculturation). As a result, assumptions about the genesis of professional competences can be examined.
