Proteostasis processes at synaptic mitochondria (A06/A10)

We aim to define mitochondrial protein dynamics and the mitochondrial biogenesis process in the synapse. The central aims that we seek to address in the third funding period are the following. (1) We will define to which extent synaptic mitochondria express their genome. (2) We will understand to what extent central mitochondrial functions, such as ATP production and the generation of reactive oxygen species are linked to presynaptic function. We especially aim to dissect how these activities affect synaptic activity, and how synaptic activity affects these functions.
