Despite the early contribution of Germany to research about child mobility there are virtually no studies from Germany that investigate child mobility under the perspective of a multitude of influences in a systematic and multivariate way. The available national travel surveys permit to do so only to a very limited extent, because essential variables are missing. In a questionnaire survey conducted by TU Dortmund among parents of children at seven primary schools in Lünen (form 1-4), suitable, high quality data were collected in early 2017. In order to study the impact of urban form and transport infrastructure along the trip, that are of particular interest from the perspective of urban development and transport planning, relevant variables need to be extracted from digital sources and collected on site, and they need to be processed and matched with the questionnaire data. This is the purpose of this small project. The data analysis will be conducted by the applicant and financed by TU Dortmund. Funding is requested only for technical support, student assistants and publication. The project results will be published on a scientific basis, but also discussed with a broader public at an information evening including the municipal adminstration, police, schools, parents etc.
