The project Digitization of the Telemann cantata manuscripts of the University Library Frankfurt am Main aims to make this valuable collection (about 860 works, among them 12 complete cantata cycles) freely available online for research in addition to the already digitized Telemann manuscripts of the Berlin State Library, the Saxon State and University Library Dresden, the ULB Darmstadt, and other libraries. Included are the works of Frankfurt Music Directors in Telemann’s environment who copied, edited and performed his works until the end of the 18th century (about 115 cantatas) as well as a few still anonymous works. In addition to the digital versions of manuscripts examples of the watermarks of individual cantata cycles as well as the watermarks of the nearly 100 Telemann autographs in the collection are digitally recorded and made accessible. The range of the project is completed by a corpus of about 100 cantata texts (in latin letters and searchable PDF format) which will be constantly extended and brought into TEI format during and after the end of the project.
