Fitness effects of cross-species gene transfer in bacteria (A05)

This project studies genome-wide evolution by lateral gene transfer across related bacterial species. In the second period, massively parallel experiments will map genome evolution, transcriptomic changes, and fitness effects under genome-wide horizontal transfer. In collaboration with project A4, we focus on metabolic innovations by horizontal transfer of specific operons.
