This project makes use of the frontier approach to examine the impact of future-oriented carbon-credit projects on local conflicts in Kenya and Tanzania. We aim to understand how frontier entrepreneurs - private companies, state agencies, and (I)NGOs - promote and implement carbon-credit projects in conflict-prone locations inhabited by marginalized people - the pastoralists, forest dwellers, and small-scale farmers. We will apply qualitative research methods.
